About Me

Klaas van Kempen

Background

I grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. My parent immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands shortly before I was born so I speak dutch and the majority of my family still lives in the Netherlands.

Education

For my undergraduate degree I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There I double majored in Mathematics and Economics and I minored in Statistics. I am now a graduate student at Georgetown University studying Data Science and Analytics.

Research

While I was an undergraduate I worked as a research assistant all 4 years. My primary focus was looking at the medical outcomes of adolescents with chronic kidney disease and determining which behaviors and characteristics of those patients led to better or worse lifetime outcomes.
